Windows Description
By Ken vonRoenn | President & CEO | Architectural Glass Art, Inc. | Louisville, KY

“In developing the theme for the windows at Christ United Methodist, I wanted to find a theme that would allow for an expression that conveyed the feeling of joy that I believe is a unique characteristic of the congregation. I decided to use the theme of Creation, for it allowed me to develop an imagery of movement that was energetic and uplifting so as to represent this feeling of joy.

“The central round window establishes this theme of Creation with its forms and colors. The swirling colors suggest the formation of life. Scattered throughout these swirling colors are small clear areas, which are faceted glass jewels, representing the stars of the universe. The spiral form that is used to create this movement is called a Fibonacci Spiral and is named for the 14th century Italian mathematician who discovered the mathematical progression of life, which is seen throughout all of earth’s nature as well as the entire universe. It therefore is an appropriate form to represent creation.

“The expansion of these colors and forms from the central window to the side windows represents the concept that Creation is continually ongoing. The rays of beveled glass represent this idea, as do the spiraling forms. The beveled glass rays will cast ‘rainbows’ of colors throughout the space symbolizing God’s covenant with man.

“I hope these designs adequately convey this theme as well as embodying the enthusiastic joy of the congregation of Christ United Methodist.”
